Burning Trash in our Neighborhoods

With our eyes stinging and our throats burning from a neighbor's burn barrel smoke, our neighborhood in Macon, Georgia, decided to do what we could to stop neignborhood air pollution. burning trash in my neighborhood

We called the fire department only to discover the fire prevention department had given a permit to burn. It seemed their only concern was with fire safety.

Next, we called the Health Department to see if they could find out if the trash being burned was healthy for us to breathe. We were told we had a reason to be concerned.
Air pollution from burning trash can be dangerous! But they were not allowed to interfere.
